Blythewood Miniature Schnauzers has been the premier Miniature Schnauzer breeder in the United States for decades. With over 70 years of experience in breeding and showing Miniature Schnauzers, you can be sure a puppy from Blythewood has an outstanding pedigree, undergone the necessary vaccinations, dewormed, has had their tail docked and ears cropped and has been lovingly, hand-raised and well socialized. These are the ingredients that make for an excellent show prospect or a wonderful pet and life-long family member.

Blythewood Miniature Schnauzers are known world-wide for showing or as pets. Every breeding is planned to produce the best. The pick of the litter is kept for showing (over 850 AKC Champions and winning Breed Bests in Show and Specialty Bests in Show. The litter mates are placed in loving pet homes. Approximately 90% of all litters are in pet homes.
Blythewood dogs are friendly and outgoing with a reliable, even-tempered personality. Good temperament is the most highly valued characteristic of the Mini, as it ensures that the dog will love their family. In most cases, Blythewood Miniature Schnauzers are not hyper or yappy.
Today's Blythewood Minis are the culmination of 70 years of dedication to the breed by Mrs. Joan Huber. She has been instrumental in shaping the breed as it is known today. Blythewood Miniature Schnauzers is committed to protecting the integrity of the breed type.
You will get a stronger, better developed puppy from Blythewood Miniature Schnauzers due to the following:​

Puppies are NEVER sold at weaning (5-6 weeks) but at a later date (typically between 10 - 16 weeks).

Puppies have been socialized with more than just their litter-mates (in Joan's home and not in a kennel).

Puppies have had all of their required and recommended inoculations and wormings.

All Blythewood Kennel's Miniature Schnauzers are guaranteed free of congenital juvenile cataracts.

All puppies are fully guaranteed to be healthy and are to be examined by your unbiased veterinarian.

For those who would prefer a full-grown Schnauzer rather thqn a puppy, Blythewood occasionally has mature bitches available (usually between 6-8 yeaars of age) who make wonderful family pets.

Joan Huber, owner of Blythewood Miniature Schnauzers, has been in business for 70 years as a breeder, a handler, a groomer and a kennel-keeper. The experiences Joan has gathered over the years has led to an expertise and knowledge of the Miniature Schnauzer that is second to none. To her credit, Joan has produced 850+ Championship dogs over the years and has been the recipient of many awards... including AKC Terrier Breeder of the Year, 2016.​

Our breedings are infrequent and selective and therefore many factors are considered such as:

STUD SERVICE TO
APPROVED FEMALES
Blythewood, on occasion, will allow for stud service to approved females having an excellent pedigree and good conformation. We do live breedings, AI or via frozen semen from previous champion males.
As with our own in-house breedings, we are adamant about the requirements that the females must meet to be serviced by one of our males.
PUPPIES
Blythewood litters are raised with love and placed into their forever pet homes but show prospects are either shown by us or placed into show homes.
ALL pups are raised with love and have all health checks, vaccinations and sound temperaments.

GROOMING
At Blythwood we take pride in our grooming abilities and we make all purebred and mixed breed dogs look their very best!
We are forthcoming with assistance or advice for grooming your dog
so that you maximize all the good features they have. We want you to leave here with a dog you can be proud of!

We are proud of our state-of-the-art kennel facility and would like to think it is your pets "home away from home". Cleanliness and dog safety as our our focus. Our objective is to ensure that all dogs are kept safe and happy in a stress-free environment, with regular exercise and play.
